Review of I Will Rise: Poetry about living with mental and chronic illness, by J.A. Steckling

A review of my recently released poetry book, I Will Rise, from author Anneke Vliegen.

This is one of those collections of poetry I have taken my time to read through, so I could savour a few at a time – much as I would approach a box of chocolates. The advantage of a book, though, is that I could go back. When I did, I found new layers, heard them in a different intonation in my internal voice, grew in appreciation even more.

Justine may well aim to bring comfort to people who face mental health issues, yet I am convinced many others will find recognition in the emotions and processes she expresses here, too.

There is power to be found in the darkness, soothing in the light.

You can get I Will Rise: Poetry about living with mental and chronic illness today exclusively in the Lulu bookstore.

It will soon be available here in the shop I’m working on setting up as an epub.

It’s currently pending distribution to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Books, Apple Books, and a few other places.

The epub available here will be compatible with all apps and e-readers except Kindle, I believe, and will be at an exclusive reduced price.
