What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

There are myriad reasons why Halloween is my favorite holiday.

One, everyone is encouraged to dress up if they’d like to, but the older you get, the less of a requirement it becomes.

Two, autumn/fall is the best season. Pumpkin reigns supreme, especially carved.

Three, for someone who loves horror and dressing up as scary stuff for fun, Halloween is the perfect excuse.

Four, there is horror merch, witchy merch, and goth merch everywhere.

It’s the best time to lie under a pile of blankets and devour a tale of terror.

Last but not least, once you’re a certain age, you don’t have to speak to your family on Halloween at all. It’s about being your best, weirdest, most authentic self, and sometimes that means serious distance from the people who raised you (or at least claim they did).

I’m a horror author because I love the genre, but Halloween is horror season.
